Nintendo’s amiibo line of collectible figures has reshaped the landscape on their consoles and handhelds. Every major game that arrives on Wii U, 3DS, and Switch has to have some sort of amiibo functionality worked in, especially if the game features any of Nintendo’s major characters. So when Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was first announced we all knew that amiibo would play a part, though we didn’t know which figures and how. While we don’t have all the details yet, Ubisoft has clarified things a lot today in a new tweet.

Responding to a fan who asked about how amiibo would work in Mario + Rabbids, Ubisoft replied “It supports the Nin Char Amiibo: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi & Peach. Each unlocks a weap for the Nin char & its Rabbid counterpart.”

So, what this means, in case the 140 character limit made it tough to understand, is that any character in the game should have functionality for their corresponding amiibo. Using the amiibo should unlock a new weapon for that character and the Rabbid version of them, most likely a powerful one, though nothing that would cause imbalance within the game.

So far we know of a few characters that will be in Mario + Rabbids, such as Princess Peach, Luigi, Yoshi, and, of course, Mario himself. If you have any of these characters’ amiibo then you should be all set for the arrival of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle on August 29th.
