Some small new information has now been revealed about Mass Effect Andromeda.

Mass Effect Andromeda was sadly missing from EA’s booth at Gamescom this year, so fans are still eager for more information. Thankfully the game’s senior development director, Chris Wynn, shares more details on this Twitter account.

According to Wynn, there will be no familiar faces that will be returning in the new game sadly. He said adding returning characters won’t make sense from a storyline standpoint. This makes sense as this game is set in the Andromeda Galaxy, while the first trilogy was in the Milky Way Galaxy. The galaxies are 2.5 million light years apart…

Not to mention BioWare already said Commander Shepard’s journey ended in the third game. The new game will bring different characters with a fresh story for them to tell.

Another thing Wynn confirmed about Mass Effect Andromeda is it’s being built with a whole new game engine. This is one of the main reasons why it’s taking BioWare slightly longer to make this game compared to the others.

It makes sense for BioWare to use a new game engine since they want get as much power out of the new PS4 and Xbox One hardware. Not to mention PC hardware has grown ever since the last game came out as well.
