The popular MechWarrior franchise appears to be re-inventing itself and returning as a free-to-play PC only title. Today’s announcement by Pirahanna Games states that the game will be available in the second half of 2012, and will feature a slew of customization options for your mechs.
“We’re excited to lead the MechWarrior franchise online for fans of the series,” said Russ Bullock, co-founder of Piranha Games. “We’re proud to partner with Infinite Game Publishing, and are thankful for the fans of the MechWarrior series that have been so patient for the next MechWarrior game to arrive. Infinite Game is a partner who understands both the world of games publishing and the crucial technical needs of today’s AAA online gaming experiences.”
Pirahanna didn’t drop too many details concerning their business model, but when there are plenty of customizable parts, you can rest assured you’ll be paying for the cool stuff. Look for more details on this first person mech experience as it nears next year’s release.
