Anyone that’s a fan of the lone Halo Wars title to arrive on Xbox 360 has been calling for a sequel for years now. The original development team, Ensemble Studios, disbanded shortly after the release of the original. While there have been rumors floating around for quite some time, job listings, teases, and the like. Today at their Gamescom presentation, Microsoft finally revealed that Halo Wars 2 is in development, and headed to both Xbox One and Windows 10.
The strategy title will arrive in Fall of 2016, and brief cinematic trailer revealed that 343 Industries is working with Creative Assembly for this second installment of the game.
Capping off their press conference with the announcement, no details were given about the game. The very few that are out there reveal the game to be a strategy title with “fast-paced action, massive battles, and an all new Halo Story.”
The good news is, Creative Assembly is well versed in strategy games with their work on Total War. Hopefully the game holds true to its online multiplayer roots, and doesn’t change the formula that made the game popular in the first place.
