Driver does the unthinkable with a Prius on one of Utah’s most dangerous trails, and the footage has Cybertruck owners crying into their pillows

Prius conquers trail meant for Jeeps.

A driver took a Toyota Prius off-roading on one of Utah’s toughest trails, Hell’s Revenge, and the video is making waves online. The eco-friendly hybrid car managed to handle terrain that is usually meant for heavy-duty, modified vehicles.

Hell’s Revenge is located in Moab, Utah, and is known for attracting the most experienced drivers with advanced equipment. The trail is typically tackled by proper four-wheel-drive trucks, highly modified Jeeps, and serious hardware.

Watching a Prius, a car known for saving gas rather than climbing rocks, slowly make its way up the rocky terrain is shocking. According to Motor1.com, the footage posted in a Facebook Reel by @Crawl_Moab shows the small hybrid bouncing around the uneven ground but somehow managing to climb a steep hill.

The Prius needed serious modifications to survive the brutal trail

A standard two-wheel-drive sedan should never be on a course like this. Two-wheel-drive cannot deliver the necessary grip, power, or control when dealing with uneven, rocky ground. Toyota offered the Prius in front-wheel-drive until 2019, when they started offering an all-wheel-drive model

All-wheel-drive is a better option for light trail work, as it constantly sends power to all four wheels for better grip. If the driver was serious about tackling Hell’s Revenge, they likely had an all-wheel-drive version. They probably also used a lift kit to gain extra height and clearance, which is essential to avoid damaging the bottom of the car.

As one expert noted, “Nothing can compare to the feeling of conquering any type of terrain you run into, and a lift kit makes this possible.” While taking a Prius off-roading is not impossible, you need to take extra precautions. The last thing anyone wants is to need a rescue. This impressive performance shows how cars handle challenging conditions better than some might expect.

The internet had mixed reactions to this unexpected feat. Some viewers appreciated the bold approach, with one person noting, “Nothing is more capable than a vehicle that you don’t mind if it gets dented.” Another encouraged the daring attitude, saying, “Drive it like you stole it.” One commenter summed up the situation perfectly, claiming, “Almost any vehicle can be an off road vehicle if you don’t care about damage.”

However, not everyone thought this was a smart move. Some viewers raised safety concerns about taking a hybrid on such dangerous terrain. One worried commenter warned, “No thanks. One good hit on the battery pack and you’re a fireball.”

Others pointed out that the Prius was already missing part of its front end from scraping, which is bad news for the owner’s insurance. Unlike a stranded traveler’s risky highway chase, this driver at least made it through. Still, one former owner of that exact model and color was completely unbothered, claiming the trail was “too easy for it. Prius for the win.”
