One of the best developments in video game news over the last few years has been the evolution of Nintendo Direct. These videos, put out by the Japanese game company, spoke directly to the fans, telling them all about what they would be playing on their 3DS and Wii U later on.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, who passed away in earlier this year, was the main figurehead and spokesperson for these videos, which became a favorite of Nintendo fans worldwide. However, with Iwata’s passing many wondered if the series would continue, and in what manner.

Nintendo has now confirmed, via IGN, that the Nintendo Direct videos will go on. However they are not saying what form they will take, or what they will discuss at this time. With the appointment of new president Tatsumi Kimishima many might think that he will be taking the reins.

However, Kimishima is quite different than Iwata and might not have the same sort of energy that the Nintendo Directs used to contain. Shigeru Miyamoto has guest starred in a few of them, making him very likely to be featured prominently, possibly alongside Nintendo of America mainstays Reggie Fils-Aime and Bill Trenen.

How and when the next Nintendo Direct will be released is uncertain, but at least Nintendo fans can take solace in the fact that they will be continuing in some for.
