Nintendo Shipped 10.5 Million Amiibo Figures Worldwide

Nintendo’s Amiibo range have been a huge success as the company has shipped 10.5 million figures of them already.

Nintendo made the big announcement during its most recent financial report. 10.5 million figures have been shipped worldwide. This is an impressive figure considering they were only on sale since November 2014.

What’s even mind boggling is that Nintendo said 66 percent of Amiibo figures were shipped to North America. This means around 6.93 million figures were sent to North America. The rest of the numbers were shipped to other countries.

However, 10.5 million Amiibo figures is not indicative of the real demand for them. Many retailers are usually sold out of one specific character and fans pay top dollar for figures they don’t own on places like eBay.

Not to mention not all retail stores are able to stock as many Amiibo figures as they want. Some retailers have “exclusives” while others don’t stock enough figures for a particular character. Nintendo could have shipped even more than 10.5 million Amiibo figures if fans were able to buy them easily.

In either case, creating Amiibo figures has been a real smart move for Nintendo. Activision started the craze with its Skylanders series. Disney followed this with Disney Infinity and then Nintendo after them.
