E3 2017 is just around the corner, and with that the rumor mill is churning as to what games we could possibly see getting announcements in the near future.   Platinum Games, developer of the Bayonetta series has got people talking to start off the week by publishing a handful of clips to their YouTube channel.  The clips, from Bayonetta 1&2 all loop three times.  That’s enough information for fans to start salivating at the possibility of an upcoming announcement from the developer that Bayonetta 3 is happening.

The Bayonetta franchise has burst back into headlines recently when Platinum and SEGA released the original Bayonetta on PC earlier this month.  The PC port of the 2010 release was exceptionally well done, offering up plenty of customization that pc gamers expect.  While many have been holding out hope for other Platinum titles to arrive on PC, like Bayonetta 2 and Vanquish, it’s difficult to see the former hitting PC anytime soon as Nintendo funded and published development for the game as a Wii U exclusive.

That doesn’t mean that Bayonetta 2 couldn’t find a home on the newly released Nintendo Switch.  We also can’t rule out the possibility that a third Bayonetta title arrive on Nintendo’s new console.

Hopefully these teases are for a third Bayonetta game and hopefully the third time is the charm for this release.  A point where Platinum Games and Sega realize that they should release the game on all available platforms simultaneously.   Bayonetta was recieved well on Steam in its recent release, selling 100k copies in its first week.  With huge installed bases of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, a widespread multiplatform release for Bayonetta 3 could be a boon for the developer.

We’ll have to wait and see if Bayonetta 3 does end up happening.  Right now, it’s all just specualtion.  At the time of this post, there have been five clips of Bayonetta uploaded to Platinum’s Youtube Channel, all looping three times.
