Just as many of the announcements made at the Game Awards 2018 surprised just about everyone watching, so too did Bethesda shock just about everyone in the weeks leading up to E3 2018 when the showed-off Rage 2 for the very first time. The fact that the game existed at all was puzzling to many since the original Rage wasn’t very well received. However, the team at Avalanche must have really believed in the IP’s potential, because here they were with a sequel, and it looked incredible; the game looks almost completely different from the original. Not a whole lot of the game has been see since E3 2018 so it wasn’t really all that clear what gamers could expect from it, but that’s changed with this latest trailer.

First off, Rage 2 finally has a release date. Eager fans will be able to get their hands on Avalanche’s post-apocalyptic romp starting on May 14, 2019. As for what one can actually do in the game, it looks like the sky’s the limit. The trailer showed-off five distinct activities across several different regions. These included races, a horde mode of sorts, “Ark” hunting, convoy raiding, bounty hunting, and fending-off attack from “the Authority.”

Engaging in races on established tracks allows players to earn new cars; The horde mode, called “Mutant Bash” is just as punishing as it sounds, but completing it also grants access to new weapons and overall renown. Meanwhile, Ark Hunting serves as the primary means of powering-up one’s character, and raiding convoys carries it’s own set of rewards. The wasteland of Rage 2 is being advertised as a completely open world, so it’s probably safe to say that there will be plenty to do beyond what’s been named here. As for what exactly one should do and when, well that’s just a question of what your favorite brand of chaos is, isn’t it?

Rage 2 launches on May 14 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
