The Ratchet & Clank series has been around for years and brought us the best entry in years with the reimagined Ratchet & Clank for PS4 just a couple weeks ago. This game’s release seemed like perfect timing with the movie of the same name coming only a few weeks later, but unlike the game, critics are absolutely slamming the movie.

A series like Ratchet & Clank has never been reliant on its story, with a focus more on its gameplay than anything else, but it still offered enough to keep you interested with charming characters that you enjoy seeing throughout the game.

The recent Ratchet & Clank game have us a lot of hope for the movie, as while the story still wasn’t the best thing ever, the game looked absolutely beautiful and felt like a Pixar movie that was turned into a game. However, it appears this didn’t not translate well to the big screen.

As of the time of this writing, the Rotten Tomatoes score for the Ratchet & Clank movie is 13% with 4 fresh reviews and 30 rotten reviews. On top of that, the average rating for the movie is a 3.9/10. This isn’t just a case of movie critics not understanding a game turned into a movie, as gaming sites like IGN are also saying that the movie is incredibly disappointing.

With the family friendly The Jungle Book likely to bring in the younger crowds again this weekend, reports from Box Office Mojo estimate that Ratchet & Clank might have a ceiling of only a $5-6 million opening weekend, so combined with these abysmal reviews, it’s not looking good for this movie to do too well in the box office in the US.
