Grand Theft Auto V arrived last month, and with its record breaking sales performance you’d think that Rockstar would let their foot off the gas. That doesn’t look to be the case at all, a recent discovery indicates that work is well underway for the “Next version of a famous IP” from the developers.
Discovered by superannuation, the info comes from a developer resume at Rockstar New England. It sheds some light on what we could expect from Rockstar in the future. The next version of a famous IP indicates that it will be a sequel, prequel, or possible next-gen version to something that we’ve played before.
Many hope that Rockstar’s next game will be the follow-up to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. While Rockstar has far from confirmed this, they’ve discussed briefly that they have every intention of going back to the Red Dead world for another game.
Earlier this year Rockstar Games’ parent company Take Two Interactive listed Red Dead Redemption as a permanent fixture in their line-up of games. Red Dead was listed alongside Take Two’s biggest hits, like Grand Theft Auto and Borderlands.
Then again, this could be just about anything else. Rockstar fans have been clamoring for a sequel to Bully, so there’s that. The “next version” could indicate that this developer is working on a next-gen iteration of GTA V, but we’re still hoping for a next-gen western game and the continuation of the Red Dead Redemption franchise.
