Disappointed with the Resident Evil franchise post RE4? Itching for a return to the series’ roots? You might be in luck. In a post on the official Resident Evil Facebook Page, Capcom have asked fans of the long-running survival horror series for their opinion on a Resident Evil 2 Remake.

A statement reads:

Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media. However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?

Responses have so far been overwhelmingly positive, with thousands of fans contributing ideas for what they’d like to see from an RE2 Remake.

Capcom are not averse to revisiting old titles, as they released Resident Evil HD, a remaster of the original Resident Evil, for multiple platforms earlier this year. We loved what it had to offer, with updated graphics, a new difficulty setting and control scheme. An impressive critical reception was married with commercial success, as Resident Evil HD broke sales records on first day sales on the PlayStation Network.
