Singer’s impounded Tesla sits in LA tow yard for weeks. Then investigators open the front trunk and make a horrifying discovery

There's nothing romantic about this homicide.

A disturbing find at a Los Angeles tow yard has put singer D4vd at the center of a serious investigation. In September, police discovered the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez inside a Tesla that belongs to the 20-year-old musician, whose legal name is David Burke.

According to Lad Bible, the car had been sitting in the impound lot after someone reported it abandoned in the Hollywood Hills. It had been there for more than a month before authorities checked it. When they opened the front trunk on September 8, they made a horrifying discovery inside.

Hernandez went missing from Lake Elsinore in California back in April 2024, when she was only 13 years old. A missing person flyer said she was last seen on April 5 in the western Riverside County area. When police first found her body, LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams told People that they still needed to “determine a cause or manner of her death.”

This case keeps getting darker

Things have gotten more serious in recent weeks. At first, D4vd was not called a suspect and police have not charged him with anything. But now, someone from the LAPD who knows about the case has reportedly named him as a suspect.

The Romantic Homicide singer has not been helping with the police investigation. They also said that D4vd “may have had help in dismembering and disposing of the body” sometime in the spring.

People in Hernandez’s family have talked about how she knew the singer. Her brother Matthew Rivas told reporters in September that family members in Lake Elsinore knew she was friends with D4vd. He said she was going to watch a movie with the singer that day but she never came back home.

The medical examiner in Los Angeles County said that Hernandez had a “Shhh” tattoo on her right index finger that looked a lot like one that D4vd has.

Captain Williams said earlier that “we know for sure that Celeste Rivas Hernandez died and someone placed her body in the front trunk area of David Burke’s Tesla.”But Williams also warned people not to make quick judgments. He said that “as far as their relationship, it would be premature for me to say anything.”

Someone speaking for D4vd, who was traveling for concerts when police found the body, said back then that the singer “has been informed about what’s happened” and that “although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.” Police still have not said what the cause of death was.
