Sony Computer Entertainment has aquired Gaikai.  The Electronics company is getting serious about cloud based technology, and purchased the company to bring Gaikai’s cloud-based streaming technology into its network businesses.  Sony purchased the company for approximately 380 million USD.

Andrew House of Sony has already commented on the aquisition:

“By combining Gaikai’s resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with SCE’s extensive game platform knowledge and experience, SCE will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences,” says House.

The inclusion of Gaikai into the Sony stable of companies will allow the PlayStation brand to continue to grow into the next generation.  David Perry CEO of Gaikai expects for the aquisition to allow Sony to “empower developers with new capabilities, and bring breathtaking new experiences to users worldwide.”
