Daisy Ridley (Rey) has confirmed in a new interview that her character and Luke Skywalker will indeed be the opening scene for Star Wars: Episode 8. She also spoke briefly on what she thinks of the story.

Ridley had a chance to speak to MTV where she talked about how filming for Star Wars: Episode 8 has been going so far. They had to reenact the ending of Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens many months later.

She said: “Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” Ridley told MTV News on the Oscars red carpet Sunday (February 28). “When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”

Further in the interview, she mentioned that Star Wars: Episode 8 has a “good story” and that Luke Skywalker is “so cool in this one“. The latter part indicates that Mark Hamill should have a lot more screentime in this movie.

Star Wars: Episode 8 releases in December 2017 and will be directed by Looper’s Rian Johnson. Most of the cast from Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens will be returning along with a few new cast members.
