2013 is shaping up to be a pretty stacked calendar of video game releases, with another blockbuster added to the list from Blizzard Entertainment. Â Their popular RTS, StarCraft II will recieve its first expansionary content with the Zerg based tale in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
Heart of the Swarm has been in production for quite some time, with a playable version available to press and event-goers as early as Blizz-con 2011, which was over one year ago. Â Collecting feedback from the passionate community of SC players, Blizzard plans to implement these finishing touches on the game over the next few months to see a first half 2013 release for the game.
Blizzard is known for taking their sweet time with many of their games, and this one could see a miss of that window. Â “It’s too early to tell,” said Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime when pressed for a more precise release date.
Blizzard has been actively updating StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in recent months. Â The most recent update saw Clan functionality added to the online feature-set, as well as an overhauled UI.
