You can now play Steam games on Xbox via Nvidia Geforce Now streaming. Geforce Now is Nvidia’s game streaming platform and has been around for quite some time now. The company is now permitting users access to its GeForce Now streaming service on Microsoft Edge. This is excellent news for Xbox owners as they will now get the best of both worlds.
Nvidia unlocking GeForce Now streaming service on Microsoft Edge will directly let you play Steam PC games on your console. The GeForce Now service has over 1,000 PC games that can now be accessed via Xbox consoles in a beta update to GeForce Now. The base GeForce Now service is free of cost at the moment, which means you can try out all the games that the service packs in, although for just an hour. The resolution at which the games are streamed is still 1080p, though.
To play Steam games on Xbox, all you need to do is fire up the Edge browser connect to the GeForce Now service and start playing. Xbox consoles have been taking advantage of Xbox Cloud gaming, Microsoft’s in-house games as a service platform with an enormous collection of games spanning generations. The company has even promised to let users play AAA titles on day one via the Xbox Cloud gaming platform. Nvidia’s Geforce Now, on the other hand, has not had the best of starts. The service suffered from several major issues before and exited its beta stage last year despite being launched in 2015.

While Spencer didn’t present us with any dates, Nvidia allowing Steam games to work on Xbox via Geforce Now streaming might be your best bet to play PC games on Xbox right now. With many PlayStation exclusives coming to PC, Geforce Now or Xbox Cloud Gaming might eventually Xbox owners to play those titles on their consoles without having to think about buying a different console.
