Twitch Streaming on Xbox Gets Way Easier With New Update

Recommended Videos

Twitch streaming from Xbox consoles is now easier than ever before, thanks to a brand new update. In the latest Xbox Update Preview to Xbox Insiders, Microsoft is adding a new feature that will smoothen out live streaming to Twitch from Xbox consoles and the beta version of Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Xbox One models.

Earlier, Microsoft had tried to contend with the live streaming service by launching its in-house live streaming service called Mixer. However, the live streaming service did not perform as intended and Microsoft closed Mixer down for good in June last year. Fast forward a year ahead, and Xbox is now testing out the viability of letting users Twitch stream directly from their Xbox consoles.

The company is implementing a built-in method for streaming that eliminates the need for a game capture card or a separate app. This new Twitch live streaming is only available to Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead branch of the Xbox Insider Program at the time of writing this article. But if all goes well, Xbox might launch the feature to a broader set of audiences.

If you are an Xbox Insider and want to check out Twitch streaming from Xbox, here’s what you have to do. First, you will need to link your Twitch account either using a mobile device or using console Settings. After your account has been linked, tap the “Go live now” button to begin streaming gameplay to Twitch. Keep in mind that the said feature only streams gameplay, so you will need to pause the screen when you desire to navigate elsewhere. Since this new approach is developed directly into the OS, it might be more straightforward for players to use and offer slightly better streaming quality than before.

While the Twitch live streaming feature is still in its early stages, it will be beneficial for Xbox console users. Being in the early stages also means there will be potential bugs and problems that one may encounter while testing the feature. You can enroll in the Xbox Insider Program and get a chance to try this feature and some others out before others. As for now, you can use the Twitch app to stream from your Xbox consoles. The new Alpha Skip-Ahead update even brings cloud gaming to Xbox One. This will enable users to enjoy and check out Xbox Series X|S titles with all the bells and whistles on their Xbox One.
