The retail store release date leak strikes again. We already knew that Supermassive Games is planning on making a big reveal tomorrow for their upcoming horror title The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, but it appears that retail giant Target has stolen the thunder from them. Shown on a picture via twitter by known video game aficionado Wario64, it states clearly that the new release date is Friday, August 30, 2019.
This isn’t the first time that storefronts have accidentally, or purposefully, leaked the date of a video game, nor will it be the last. Walmart and Amazon are infamous for leaking dates long before the company officially reveals them, and Supermassive is just the next in a long line of developers who’ve had the carpet pulled from under them. However, just because the date is out in the open, doesn’t mean the game won’t be good. From what we’ve seen so far, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan looks like it will continue the theme from their other successful title, Until Dawn.Â
In fact, this game will be first in a long line of an “Anthology” that will all feature different protagonists along with a brand new set piece and story. It’s a fascinating idea, and quite frankly we’re very interested to see some of it. While we did get a reveal trailer a while ago, and a scary one at that, their hasn’t really been any mention of Man of Medan since then. The speculation will end sometime tomorrow as Supermassive has a planned announcement. If it is in fact a release date, then hopefully they aren’t too mad at Target for ruining it for them.
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan will release in 2019 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. If the leaked date is accurate, then it will be August 30.
