It has now been revealed that the Deadpool movie only got off the ground thanks to the character’s rabid fan base.

Extra’s Mario Lopez had a chance to interview Ryan Reynolds this week on the set of the Deadpool movie. The movie wouldn’t have existed if it weren’t for the fans demanding it to happen.

Reynolds said it was the crazy fan base that helped the Deadpool movie get off the ground. He said they are the reason the movie is getting made in the first place. The fans made their voices loud and clear for 20th Century Fox to make the film after all these years.

20th Century Fox butchered the Deadpool character the first time he appeared in a movie. Many fans know how horrible he was in the very atrocious X Men Origins: Wolverine movie. After that, fans were angry and wanted a legit portrayal of the character.

20th Century Fox leaked out some test footage from the Deadpool movie last year and the reception was largely positive. Now the movie is in production and will be released in cinemas in February 2016. On April 1st, it was revealed the movie will be rated R too.
