Rebecca Haro, 41, will go to court on Tuesday for a hearing about the disappearance of her baby son Emmanuel. She is accused of murder and lying to police. Her husband already admitted he killed the 7-month-old baby almost two weeks ago.
According to Court TV, Jake Haro, 32, said he was guilty of second-degree murder and lying to police on October 16. When the judge decides his punishment on November 3, he could spend 25 years to life in prison. Police have not found Emmanuel’s body even though they have looked everywhere.
Emmanuel went missing on August 14, 2025. Rebecca told police that someone attacked her in a parking lot outside a store and took her baby. But deputies quickly determined that the story was made up. They figured out pretty fast that she was not telling the truth about what really happened.
The Story Fell Apart Quickly Under Investigation
Police saw Jake near a highway after they arrested him. At the same time, other officers were looking for Emmanuel’s body close by. They still have not been able to find the baby anywhere.
Rebecca talked to the Press-Enterprise newspaper while she was in jail. She said Jake would never hurt a baby and that she did not do anything wrong. She told the court she is not guilty of the crimes.
Jake was in trouble with the law before for hurting another baby. That baby was his child with a different woman he used to be married to. The baby ended up with broken bones, bleeding in the brain, and cerebral palsy because of what Jake did. Cases involving murder and evidence of premeditation often reveal disturbing details during investigation. The judge let him go with probation and made him do work release instead of going to prison.
Rebecca has a court date on Tuesday for what they call a felony settlement conference. If she keeps saying she is not guilty, the case will go to another hearing where they will show all the evidence.
Nobody knows where Emmanuel’s body is, which makes this case even harder for everyone. Police are still trying to find out exactly what happened to the baby. Similar cases where victims are discovered after extensive searches highlight the challenges investigators face. When Jake goes back to court in November to hear his punishment, people might learn more about what happened to Emmanuel.
