The skaters and soundtrack in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 were all chosen by the man himself.

VICE had a chance to interview Tony Hawk about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 at E3 2015 this week. The man makes a lot of decisions for his own game.

When talking about the skater list in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Hawk said he was involved in picking the roster for the game. He said he was also “responsible for the roster in the original series” too.

For Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Hawk said he wanted to choose “newer, contemporary skaters“. The game includes young talent like Nyjah Huston, Leticia Bufoni, and even his own son Riley.

The only “old” timers returning in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 are himself and Andrew Reynolds. Both skaters featured in the original four video games.

Hawk said it was “gamers” that pressured him to add his son Riley in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Hawk wasn’t sure if his son wanted to be in the game. Thankfully, his son said “yes“.

Hawk also said he’s “very involved” in choosing the soundtrack in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. However, he didn’t want to reveal any bands yet. He just said the soundtrack will go back to its “punk roots“.
