The producer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow dropped a major hint this week about the possibility of a 2012 sequel in the works. Computer and Video Games listed “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2” as one of its most anticipated games of 2012, and the producer for the unannounced game replied with a simple “No comment,” via Twitter.
Since Cox didn’t outright deny the claims that CVG laid out, it wouldn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that Konami would be striking while the Castlevania iron is hot. The 2010 release saw mixed reviews, with some gamers falling head over heels for the completely revisited franchise and the story of Gabriel Belmont. While the game was loosely based on the classic arcade styles of the franchise’s roots, the game felt more like a modern day hack and slash with a nice mixture of combat, platforming, and puzzle solving.
While its just a rumor right now, don’t be surprised if Konami announces something in 2012 about a release of the sequel.
