Uncharted and The Last of Us Multiplayer Shutting Down Soon on PS3

Naughty Dog will soon shut down all support for multiplayer features on their PS3 games. This includes Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and The Last of Us which all offered multiplayer components on the console. The final day to play these games on Sony’s older console will be September 3rd, 2019, shutting off at 5pm Pacific Time specifically. To allow everyone to say goodbye in the right way, Naughty Dog is making all multiplayer DLC free starting starting today.

This isn’t the first or last time a game’s multiplayer component has been shut down. As consoles are deprecated in favor of their newer generation counterparts, many games specifically get shut off as they age. Sports games especially have been prone to this, some even being turned off after just a couple of years. For Naughty Dog and their PS3 games they have had a solid run of over 10 years. And with these games all having been re-released on PS4 in some capacity, there’s likely few players out there who are truly heartbroken at this news.

The PS4 versions of Uncharted and The Last of Us will be unaffected by this change, so if you own and play those titles just keep going without fear.
