Filming is now underway for Star Wars: Episode 8 in Croatia and a few new details and a video have surfaced about it.

The Dubrovnik Times reported on what happened on the first day of filming. Obviously no big spoilers were revealed, but it sounds like the location will be used for a busy city that will be in Star Wars: Episode 8.

The site reported that many “crashes, bangs and high speed noises could be heard coming from the set“. The main cast is also expected to fly in and shoot some scenes from March 12th, 2016. They also saw many vehicles transporting spaceships to the set as well.

However, that is all that the public can know about what is happening inside. Reportedly, there are literally hundreds of security guards that are blocking the streets that lead into the set for Star Wars: Episode 8. It was revealed that Disney also has drones around to prevent fans’ own drones from snooping in.

In related news, Digital Nomads captured a video showcasing what the set looks like right now. They mentioned: “The Digital Nomads bring you the final look of the Star Wars set in Dubrovnik before filming begins on the 9th of March. The main street, the Stradun, look like a futuristic planet as 16th century façades have been transformed into a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars: Episode 8 will be released on December 17th, 2017. The movie was delayed from its May 2017 release date in order for Rian Johnson (Writer/Director) to rewrite the script.
