The Xbox One Backwards Compatible List has recently expanded to included some of the best Halo games in the series.  Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 have all been added to the list of games that are backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Anyone who owns any of these four titles from the Halo series either in the digital or physical format can now play the games on their Xbox One.  Also included with this addition to the backwards compatibility list is all of the downloadable content for the games.  Both the campaign and multiplayer aspects will be available for all games, and that they would support cross-generation LAN support, which means that you could theoretically connect an Xbox 360 and and Xbox One to play local multiplayer.

Earlier this year Microsoft announced that the games would be coming to Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility and today they’ve finally made good on that promise.

All of these titles are currently available on the Xbox One through The Master Chief Collection, but for those that didn’t pick-up that collection of Halo titles in 2014 can finally play their old games on the system.

Backwards Compatibility news on the Halo series isn’t exactly what Halo fans are hoping for at this point from Microsoft.  With a new console on the horizon in the Xbox One X, fans of the shooter are waiting patiently for any news regarding Halo 6.  We’ll probably need to wait until at least next year to find out any details about the next game, but in the meantime there’s plenty of Halo to play whether through backwards compatibility or The Master Chief Collection.
