Nintendo Direct Announcement Predictions For Today

New Trailer/Gameplay Footage for Xenoblade Chronicles X

While we have had a lull between regular Nintendo Directs, Monolith Soft and Nintendo have been holding special streams dedicated to the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X. Set to release in Japan at the end of the month, the game will not be releasing in the US until sometime later in the year. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t get some new footage through a trailer or short playthrough in the Direct.

New Mario Maker Update With Release Window

Mario Maker was originally scheduled to release sometime in the first half of 2015, but that release window was quietly moved to a more broad 2015 release. Hopefully today’s Direct can shed some light on when we might see this game, whether it will be summer or later in the year. Also, it is likely we’ll see some sort of new feature or old Mario game implementation revealed like they have done in past streams.

NES Remix 3/SNES Remix Reveal

This is one game I had on the predictions list for the last Direct as well, but I’m still really hoping it comes. It is definitely one of the more unlikely choices, but it just seems ripe for the picking for Nintendo, after the success of the first two. This would be an excellent game to announce and release this month to help out with the barren month of April for the Wii U.

Star Fox Wii U Official Unveiling

This is a game we definitely know is coming sometime this year, but outside of that we know almost nothing. Nintendo likely will hold onto this one until E3, but there is always the chance Nintendo could surprise us all today with the full reveal of Star Fox for Wii U. It had been said before that this game would come before Zelda, so many figured a summer or early fall release was likely. However, with Zelda’s delay, Star Fox is most likely destined for the holiday season at this point, which might keep it from showing up this early in a Direct.

New Wii Games On Wii U eShop

The last Nintendo Direct had the major bombshell that some Wii games were coming to the Wii U eShop, including some major hitters like Metroid Prime Trilogy. At a discounted price of $9.99 the first week and even a still solid price of $19.99 after, I’m really hoping to see more revealed. While there is no way they would put Xenoblade Chronicles on there, due to the 3D remake, the announcement of some other hard to find games like Pandora’s Tower or The Last Story would be great, along with some like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword.

Upcoming Virtual Console Titles

Most Nintendo Directs have at least addressed the Virtual Console in some way, whether it has been the reveal of a new system coming to it or just an upcoming game. This would be a great opportunity to reveal release dates for a few anticipated games in the US like Metroid: Zero Mission, which has already released in most of the world. It could also be a good time to announce N64 games on the Wii U for the first time, as they are way overdue. There is still even the Nintendo DS games that we were promised at one point.
