Pokemon Sun and Moon released for the Nintendo 3DS last November to widespread acclaim, which of course had people hyped for the new anime series based on the Alola region. Beyond a preview though, fans have had to wait for awhile as the series transitions from Cartoon Network to Disney XD, but thankfully the wait for new episodes is almost over.
Around the release of the Pokemon Sun and Moon games, a special preview of the new Sun and Moon anime was shown off around that time as well with the first two episodes. However, the Pokemon XYZ series was not yet finished at that time, though it did wrap up earlier this year.
In the time since, we’ve had nothing but repeats shown, but the good news is that Pokemon Sun and Moon is ready to make its full debut next month according to the official Pokemon website.
“The adventures of Ash and friends continue in the Alola region with the debut of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon on Friday, May 12! Our heroes have many exciting new Pokémon to discover and interesting people to learn from along the way. More new faces will help guide Ash’s latest journeys—but frequent foes Team Rocket have also made the trip to Alola, looking to swipe some high-powered new Pokémon. They’ll have competition from the ruffians of Team Skull, who delight in causing chaos and may have more sinister intentions…”
On Friday, May 12, Disney XD will be re-airing the first two episodes of Sun and Moon at 9 pm ET that were previously shown as a preview. Fans won’t have to wait a full week for the third episode though, as it will premiere in its normal timespot the next day on Saturday, May 13 at 9:00 am ET. After that episode, it will then air weekly in that same timespot on Disney XD moving forward.
