Marjorie Taylor Greene drops the MAGA label, questioning a list of things Trump has done that betrayed the ‘America first’ agenda

The feud that goes on.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has officially distanced herself from the “MAGA” label, making it clear she views her ideological stance as purely “America first,” as per The Hill. This is a huge shift, especially since Greene was once one of President Trump’s fiercest and most vocal supporters of his “Make America Great Again” movement.

The Georgia representative made the distinction during a revealing interview with Lesley Stahl on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” which aired on Sunday. Stahl pressed Greene directly, asking her, “Are you MAGA?” Greene’s answer was quick and direct: “I’m America first.”

Stahl wanted to confirm the difference, asking if the two phrases weren’t the same. Greene clarified that “MAGA is President Trump’s phrase. That’s his, his political policies,” referring to the slogan that helped propel the president’s 2016 campaign victory. When Stahl asked if she was confirming that her association with the MAGA label was “over,” Greene simply shook her head no and stated, “I’m America first. Yep.”

This isn’t just a semantic debate for MTG

Greene used the interview to seriously question whether President Trump is still upholding the “America first” agenda she champions. It seems she thinks the president has been focusing too much on international concerns and not enough on the folks here at home. “For an America First president, the number one focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn’t,” Greene explained.

She pointed out that her critique was necessary because those domestic issues were central to her own campaign promises. “Once we fix everything here, then, fine, we’ll talk to the rest of the world,” she said, outlining her priorities. The timing of this critique is devastating for the president. Greene noted that Trump labeled her a “traitor” around the same period he was meeting with some incredibly controversial figures in the Oval Office.

Greene laid out the specific timeline that led her to question his priorities. She mentioned that the president brought in “the al Qaeda leader that was wanted by the U.S. government, who is now the president of Syria.” Then, within a week of that meeting, he met with “the Crown Prince, MBS, who murdered an American journalist.” To top that off, he also brought in the newly elected Democratic Socialist mayor of New York.

Greene made sure to emphasize that “That was the time span that he called me a traitor.” It suggests that perhaps the president is prioritizing international optics and personal relationships over the core principles of his own movement. This interview comes amid a very public and heated split between Greene and President Trump. The feud began after Greene spoke out against the president’s position regarding the release of documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

While Trump eventually reversed his position and supported the public release of the files, he continued to call Greene a traitor.
