‘What a drama queen’: Comedian captures Trump official’s meltdown at restaurant after protester calls him out

"Real Househusband of DC"

A TikTok comedian filmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent losing his cool at a Washington, D.C. wine bar after an activist confronted him about economic sanctions. Lukas Thimm recorded Bessent’s dramatic response to being challenged in public.

Thimm reported that the secretary spit into his own food when the restaurant refused to remove the protesters. Thimm, who posts as @lukasthimm on TikTok, called the situation “amazing.” He described Bessent’s exit by saying, “What a drama queen. He walked right out like a little Real Housewife.”

According to Daily Dot, the incident happened at Reveler’s Hour on Wednesday night. Bessent was eating dinner when CODEPINK DC organizer Olivia DiNucci stood up to deliver what the group called a “roast toast.” DiNucci criticized the global impact of the economic sanctions Bessent helps oversee.

Bessent couldn’t handle being called out on his policies

DiNucci didn’t hold back about the effects of these policies. She mentioned a report showing that economic sanctions from the U.S. or EU are linked to hundreds of thousands of deaths each year. DiNucci said Bessent “oversees the deaths of 600,000 people due to sanctions annually.” She then asked him, “How many people are going to die because of the blood that’s on your hands?”

As DiNucci spoke, Bessent started booing her. Other diners joined in, but Thimm was seen smiling and nodding in support of the activist. When restaurant staff refused to kick DiNucci out, Bessent complained to the manager. That’s when he spit into his food before leaving the restaurant. This isn’t the first time a public figure faced uncomfortable moments while out in public.

This is part of a bigger effort by activists to publicly confront Trump officials when they appear in public. Groups like CODEPINK believe these officials shouldn’t find peace in public spaces.

The video quickly gained comments from people who supported DiNucci and the restaurant. “He spit in his own food that he ordered?! Odd way to react lmao,” one person wrote. Similar to how restaurant staff handled another situation with a high-profile diner, this establishment chose to stand their ground.

The restaurant earned praise from many users. “Name the restaurant, they didn’t kick her out,” said @newfangledromance. “They deserve my business!” People also celebrated DiNucci’s courage. One person wrote: “hugely courageous of her to do that. hero,” another wrote.” Another said: “Incredible. I love this energy. God bless this woman and all my amazing DC neighbors!!”
