A family visiting the South Carolina State Fair tried to park in a pay-to-park lot, only to be blocked in by the lot’s owner after they went looking for someone to pay. TikToker @xstupidsmartgirlx recorded the confrontation, and viewers were quick to react to the footage.
As first highlighted by The Nerd Stash, the TikToker and her family were looking for parking at the crowded fair when they found the main lots full. They spotted a pay-to-park lot owned by a local homeowner, but after pulling in, they couldn’t find anyone to collect their $20 fee.
The family parked and went searching for the owner to complete the payment. Instead, they were confronted by the landowner, who began yelling and claimed they had broken the rules by parking before paying.
Trying to pay first didn’t seem to matter to the lot owner
The TikToker started recording as the man berated them, even after they explained they couldn’t locate him when they entered. One of the women stepped out to confront him about his behavior, and he chased her while yelling until @xstupidsmartgirlx loudly spoke out against his actions.
The lot owner then parked his pickup truck in a way that made it impossible for the family to leave. When they asked if he was trying to “hold them all there,” he replied, “No,” though his truck stayed in place.
The family told him they had done the right thing by entering his gate and looking for someone to collect their money. He responded angrily, “And there was no one, right?! So you just park anywhere you want to.” The family kept trying to explain, but he grew angrier and kept them blocked in.
Later in the video, the owner apologized for cursing at the children during the confrontation. The mom told him she didn’t see the apology as genuine because he “kept on,” adding, “Apologies only matter with changed behavior!”
Commenters were appalled by the man’s behavior, with one writing, “He was not prepared for you to use your ‘big girl voice’ on him.” Another said, “And they say men are protectors when this is what we have to deal with!” The clip spread online shortly after an Austin homeowner’s parking dispute with local college students drew attention.
One commenter claimed to have parked in the same lot during a previous fair visit. “My daughters and I, along with my grandson, parked in this area, and he was extremely rude. This is the way he treats every woman that came into that parking area,” they wrote.
The lot owner has not been publicly identified, and his side of the story is not available, as the account comes solely from the TikTok video.
