A man says his Hinge date ordered 8 plates of mozzarella sticks costing $212, then told him it was the ‘worst date of my life’

A TikTok creator says his Hinge date ordered eight plates of mozzarella sticks, then told him it was the “worst date of my life” after a dispute over their temperature. The story comes from @christiancooks99, who goes by Christian and often shares stories about dates that do not go according to plan.

As reported by The Daily Dot, Christian said he and the woman had been talking for about five days, spending 15 to 20 minutes each day getting to know each other. He eventually asked her out to dinner, and she agreed.

They planned to meet at a local restaurant at 7:00 PM. Christian said he arrived at 7:03 PM, while his date showed up at 7:15 PM without apologizing, which he considered the first red flag.

The mozzarella sticks quickly became the center of the date

It took another five minutes to get inside, and Christian said he was already over the date but stayed because he was hungry. After they ordered drinks, he suggested splitting nachos, but she opted for mozzarella sticks instead.

The issue, he said, was that she placed eight separate orders. “Not eight individual mozzarella sticks. Eight orders of mozzarella sticks,” he clarified in the video.

Christian then ordered his own food. He said he had already decided he would not cover the bill, as he felt his date was taking advantage of him. “And the worst part was, she was a pretty interesting girl,” he said, noting that she played golf, enjoyed action movies, and was excited to watch the Chicago Bears play that weekend.

When the food arrived, Christian calculated that the eight orders came to $212. They shared the first order and she ate most of the second, but when she reached the third, she called the waiter over to complain that the mozzarella sticks were cold.

“The waiter goes, ‘Well, they’ve been here for about 10 minutes. Like, they are going to cool as you leave them,’” Christian recalled. The woman allegedly responded, “I didn’t pay for cold mozzarella sticks. I didn’t order cold mozzarella sticks. I expect everything on my table to come out hot.”

Rather than asking for them to be reheated, she wanted them removed from the bill, which Christian said would have meant a $94 discount. The waiter refused, and she asked to speak with a manager.

While they waited, she asked Christian, “Can you believe this? They’re gonna make you pay for cold mozzarella sticks?” He told her, “I’m not paying for eight orders of mozzarella sticks. You do realize that’s ridiculous, right?” She responded that she had planned to take the leftovers home.

The manager offered to reheat the mozzarella sticks, but the woman again asked for them to be removed from the bill. When the manager asked if she wanted the plates taken away, she requested a to-go box, which Christian said the manager refused.

Christian said he finally stepped in, telling the manager, “Sir, please, just take them. I’m so sorry. Just take them. Take them off the bill. Take them off the table. We’re good. We’re sorry to bother you.” He then paid the bill without checking it, later realizing all eight orders were still on it.

As their burger and pizza were boxed up, the two ended up fighting over who would take the leftover mozzarella sticks. “She looks at me and goes, ‘I hope you know this is the worst date of my life.’ And I had to laugh because somehow this isn’t mine,” Christian said.

Some commenters questioned his approach to dating, with one writing, “Maybe you’re focused on the wrong things when you match. You keep going after the same types.” Christian previously shared how another Hinge date asked him to cover her $120 pedicure before dinner.

Others said he could have avoided the situation by addressing the bill early. “You should have asked her if she was paying for the mozzarella sticks before putting in the order,” one person commented, while another suggested he should have requested separate checks as soon as things looked questionable.

Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify the woman’s side of the story, as this account comes solely from a TikTok video.
