A Michigan woman was taken into custody for a parole violation, but a viral video captured the moment she did the impossible

Police successfully re-arrested a Michigan woman on Tuesday after she pulled off a shocking escape from a patrol car while in handcuffs just days earlier. Her brief run, however, didn’t end the way she hoped. The woman had been at large since March 28, when she slipped through a partially open window of a Muskegon Heights Police Department (MHPD) vehicle and ran off, all without the officers noticing.

This incredible feat was even captured on video, quickly going viral online. The initial incident began, when an MHPD officer was out on patrol. They came across a vehicle parked suspiciously at an abandoned business. When the officer used a fingerprint scanner to identify a female passenger inside the car, it quickly became clear that she had an outstanding parole violation.

Officers took the woman into custody based on this violation. They handcuffed her and then placed her securely in the rear seat of an MHPD patrol car. It seemed like a routine arrest, but what happened next was anything but ordinary, according to BroBible.

Escaping in handcuffs is crazy enough already

While still restrained by the handcuffs, the woman somehow managed to escape from the police vehicle. She slipped through a partially open window as officers were busy searching the suspect vehicle, making her getaway unnoticed at that moment. An account known as Block Paper Weekly, which often shares local Muskegon happenings, captured this surreal escape on a Facebook Live video, bringing it to widespread attention.

The woman remained at-large for a couple of days following her escape. Authorities worked to track her down, with the viral video undoubtedly adding urgency to their search efforts. It must have been quite the puzzle for law enforcement to solve. Nevertheless, her freedom was short-lived. On Tuesday morning, police received a crucial tip from a citizen reporting a woman at an abandoned house. Around 9 AM, officers responded to the location in Muskegon Heights and confirmed it was indeed the woman who had escaped custody.

Following her re-arrest, officers transported her to the Muskegon County Jail. Muskegon Heights Police Chief Maurice Sain stated that the department plans to pursue additional charges against her, including fleeing a police officer and felony home invasion. Chief Sain also expressed gratitude in a press release, thanking the citizen who called in and reported the female’s location, which proved vital in her apprehension.

Looking at her Michigan Department of Corrections file, the woman had been evading parole since January 12, 2026. Her criminal history includes a 2017 conviction for delivering or manufacturing controlled substances, which came with a minimum sentence of seven years in prison. Additionally, she had prior convictions between 2010 and 2016 for two counts of larceny and operating while intoxicated.

While her escape was reminiscent of the daring maneuvers seen in Grand Theft Auto, real-world consequences have now caught up with her.
