A woman says she honked when a driver nearly hit her in the rain, then he followed her until she called police and drove straight to a station

A TikTok creator is urging drivers to think twice before honking after a near collision in the rain led to a road rage incident that left her afraid for her life. Emily Newton, who posts as @emilyjnewton, said the other driver kept following her until she called emergency services.

As reported by The Daily Dot, Newton’s video has drawn hundreds of thousands of likes. She captioned it, “Your daily reminder to stay safe when driving because you really don’t know how stable the person in the other car is.”

Newton said the incident happened about two years ago while she was driving in the rain. A car behind her got dangerously close, and when both cars reached a green light, the other driver lost control and nearly hit the back of her vehicle. She honked her horn.

She still panics at the thought of honking

According to Newton, the man then followed her for a long time and appeared determined to force her off the road. She feared he would physically attack her if he caught up, so she called Australia’s emergency number, 000, and told the operator where she was.

Because it was still early in the morning, Newton worried the nearby police station might not have officers on duty, so she asked emergency services to send officers to meet her there. Police eventually responded, and she got through the incident safely. A Massachusetts woman recently described calling police after her Uber driver missed her exit late at night.

“I always think twice before I honk my horn,” Newton said, explaining that even considering honking now makes her panic. She suggested that cars should have two different horns, one for friendly reminders and another for more urgent warnings.

The video drew thousands of comments from people sharing their own experiences with road rage. One commenter said their mother had been followed home after honking at another driver, who allegedly returned and shot an arrow at her when she went outside.

Another commenter said they were followed after briefly honking at a driver who nearly crashed into them, and that the driver allegedly threw things at their car and shouted at them before continuing the chase. Others described drivers braking suddenly, making threats, or trying to force cars off the road.

Attack of the Fanboy was unable to independently verify the other driver’s side of the story, as this account comes solely from a TikTok video.
