A judge has issued an arrest warrant for Germiran Bryson, the 26-year-old woman accused of abandoning a two-year-old goldendoodle at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid Airport. This development means that Bryson can now be arrested by any law enforcement officer.
Bryson allegedly left the adorable pup at a JetBlue ticket counter because she was in a hurry to board her flight and hadn’t registered the animal as a service dog. This whole situation is pretty wild when you think about it. Imagine just ditching your pet at the airport. According to New York Post, Bryson, who is from Virginia, was blocked from boarding her flight and was totally uncooperative when confronted by police.
Bodycam footage from one Las Vegas officer shows the officer telling her, “What we’re gonna do is walk you back to where your dog’s at and give you a citation, because you left your dog at the ticket counter.” Bryson reportedly tried to blame airport staff and even claimed it was “acceptable to leave her dog behind.” She was heard saying, “I’m not going to miss my flight,” as she walked toward her gate, leaving the dog tied to a metal carry-on baggage sizer.
Leaving your dog behind like luggage is crazy
Bryson’s brother, Gerrayl, claimed that she relies on the dog due to an injury she sustained while serving in the Army, indicating she is a disabled veteran. A family member also told Judge Diana Sullivan that Bryson was in an out-of-state hospital. However, no proof was ever provided to back up these claims. This lack of evidence ultimately prompted Judge Sullivan to issue the warrant, which is a pretty serious step. It’s tough when you can’t provide the necessary documentation.
After this chaotic scene, the dog was taken in by Las Vegas police. It then spent 10 days in Animal Protective Services’ holding. Police confirmed that Bryson made absolutely no attempts to reclaim her pup during that time, which is just awful for the poor dog.
Thankfully, there’s a happy ending for the goldendoodle. The dog was eventually taken in by the Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. In honor of its tumultuous journey, the pup was renamed JetBlue. Danielle Roth, who founded the organization, shared that when they rescued him, the pup “licked our faces, wagged his tail and jumped on us.” It sounds like he’s a sweet, loving dog despite the ordeal he went through, proving once again that dogs are our best friends.
The police department has assured everyone that JetBlue “will soon be placed in a new, loving home,” which is fantastic news.
