Arizona woman orders Olive Garden from Uber Eats, then finds out the shocking thing she got delivered instead

The ol' switcheroo.

An Arizona woman expecting a comforting delivery of Olive Garden breadsticks got a huge surprise when her order was swapped for a bottle of high-end men’s cologne instead. That’s a serious upgrade, or maybe a massive disappointment, depending entirely on how hungry you are. The whole saga unfolded after the customer, who shared her story on TikTok, realized her $45 dinner order had been mysteriously mixed up with a luxury item.

The customer opened a modest MozzArepas box only to find a small white shopping bag emblazoned with the iconic Chanel logo in gold foil. Inside the bag was a receipt for $297 and a bottle of Bleu de Chanel men’s cologne. Users discussing the scent online widely laud it as “smooth, universally appealing, fresh, and impeccably clean,” noting it leaves a delightful, slightly musky, lightly woody scent long after the obvious top notes fade.

While the customer was initially confused, she quickly figured out the delivery platform had mixed up her meal with a small package delivery. She clarified the mix-up happened through Uber Eats. Luckily, the story has a fantastic ending. The original driver actually returned to her house shortly after she had already placed a second Olive Garden order, because Uber Eats hadn’t been helpful.

Are you really going to stick with a company that confuses never-ending breadsticks for Bleu de Chanel?

She explained that “the DoorDash guy, just came and knocked on the door for the perfume with my Olive Garden order.” While she used DoorDash to mean Uber Eats here, this meant she ended up with the $300 cologne and two dinner orders. I call that winning!

Of course, the internet had strong feelings about this kind of unexpected swap. One commenter noted, “Maybe I’m just fat but I’d rather have the olive garden.” Another questioned the utility of the item when hunger strikes, asking, “Like what am I supposed to do with perfume when I wanted breadsticks and alfredo.” It’s a hilarious dilemma, but I bet the person who actually ordered the cologne was pretty upset eating unlimited salad and breadsticks instead of smelling expensive.

If you’re in the Scottsdale area I think they mixed up my 45 dollar Olive Garden order with your 300 dollar Chanel cologne.

This whole situation highlights an interesting feature: Uber Eats offers a courier service for small packages, which is how the perfume ended up in the delivery queue. However, if you’re the person who ordered the cologne, getting a resolution might not be so simple. The platform’s website states they direct users with wrong deliveries to reach out immediately for a resolution, which is typically a refund, since they “will not be able to replace the order.”

Unfortunately, the user experience for reporting these mix-ups sounds awful. There are numerous complaints online alleging serious issues with Uber’s courier service, ranging from undelivered and lost items to outright theft. One user complained that they were “unable to get help or even talk through the app since it is not one of my orders,” making it nearly impossible to report an incorrectly received item. Another user even claimed the “Driver took my package, didn’t deliver and blocked my ID.”
