Man calls off $200K wedding after fiancée defends Lindsay Clancy and allegedly says ‘Who cares?’ about her murdered children

A man has officially called off his upcoming wedding after discovering his fiancée held deeply unsettling views regarding the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. David Mãrumbâõ, who goes by the handle @marumbao, took to TikTok to explain why he chose to scrap his $200,000 wedding just one month before the big day. The video quickly went viral, pulling in over 4.4 million views as people reacted to his decision.

As reported by the Daily Dot, the situation reportedly began when the man decided to have a conversation with his fiancée to understand her perspective on the Lindsay Clancy case, which recently ended in a mistrial. Clancy, who was accused of strangling her three young children before attempting suicide, has been at the center of a massive national debate regarding mental health, postpartum psychosis, and criminal responsibility. 

When the man probed further into his partner’s beliefs about the case, he was shocked by the response he received. His fiancée reportedly said she believed Clancy was innocent, and when he pressed her on the tragic deaths of the three children, she allegedly replied, “Who cares?”

This specific interaction was the turning point for the man, who immediately realized he could not move forward with the relationship. He stated that the financial loss of reportedly $200,000 was not the priority, as he simply could not reconcile his life with someone who expressed such a disregard for the lives of the victims. He noted, “I can’t believe I was going to get married to a monster.” 

As CNN reports, conversation around the Lindsay Clancy case remains intense, particularly after a Massachusetts judge declared a mistrial when jurors could not reach a verdict. The case involved the deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. 

While Clancy’s defense team argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of the incident, the public remains deeply divided. This divide has fueled a massive amount of online speculation, with some people even targeting Clancy’s ex-husband, Patrick, with baseless conspiracy theories.

The fallout from his TikTok announcement has been significant. Although he temporarily disabled the comments on his original video, the clip was reposted by a user named Karli Bonne, known as @KarluskaP on X. This post has since gathered 1.6 million views and over 1,500 comments, creating a new wave of discourse. 

The response has been split, with some people questioning his decision while others strongly support it. One user on X noted that he effectively dodged a bullet, adding, “If you ever had children with her, you could never feel safe leaving them with her.”
