Finding extra seasoning at the bottom of a chip bag is usually a nice surprise. But pulling out a random object covered in flavoring is completely different. What one woman found in her Cool Ranch Doritos bag left her and millions of viewers shocked and disgusted.
According to Bro Bible, content creator Brookie Brown shared a video on TikTok that got over 3.2 million views. In it, she reaches into a large Doritos bag and pulls out something very strange. It’s a large, white sheet completely covered in Cool Ranch seasoning. At first, it looks like it might be raw Doritos dough that accidentally got through quality control.
But as Brown and her friend look at it more closely, they realize it’s not food at all. The object is about the size of a paper towel with a smooth texture. It’s completely coated in the blue Cool Ranch powder. “What is that? Is it just like raw Dorito, or is it like a napkin?” Brown asks in the video.
Finding random objects in packaged food happens more than you think
Her friend guesses it looks like a rag. Brown then says she already ate a chip from the bag, which makes the situation even worse. Her friend responds by saying she needs to contact Doritos because it’s a health hazard. Brown added a caption asking Doritos to reach out to her.
Foreign objects in food are actually one of the main reasons for product recalls in the United States. Things like random materials caused nine recalls in 2022. These recalls affected more than 477,000 pounds of food. That’s three times more than recalls caused by E. coli bacteria. This isn’t the first time TikTok users have raised food safety concerns about products going viral on the platform.
Recent cases include rocks found in Trader Joe’s cookies, insects in broccoli-cheese soup, metal in crackers, and plastic in frozen chicken strips. Food companies now use better technology like magnets, metal detectors, and X-ray machines to catch unwanted items. But things still get through sometimes.
When people find foreign objects in their food, they might be able to sue the company. But according to Injury Claim Coach, they need to prove three things. The food had a foreign object in it, the object directly caused an injury, and they have real damages they can prove. If there’s no actual injury, like just finding a hair, there’s not much chance of winning a lawsuit.
The most important thing to do is keep the item. You should put the food and the foreign object in a safe container in your freezer. Many cases fail because people throw away the evidence. Take photos, keep the packaging and receipt, and write down everything before contacting the company or a lawyer.
Commenters on the video had strong reactions. One person joked, “The Doritos rag is the most coveted and sought after item worth millions.” Several people told her to call a lawyer instead of contacting the company directly. Similar situations have happened before, like when a customer accused Michaels of pricing issues and the retailer’s response sparked debate.
