Woman drives across Michigan homeowner’s lawn to avoid flooded street, then tells him ‘you’re about to die’ when confronted

A Michigan homeowner found himself in a heated confrontation, when a driver decided to bypass a flooded street by steering her SUV directly across his lawn. The incident occurred during a severe storm in Dearborn, Michigan, that brought heavy rain and tornado threats to the area.

As reported by the NY Post, homeowner, an elderly man living with Parkinson’s disease, reportedly noticed the driver, identified as Lacie, navigating her vehicle along the sidewalk and through neighboring yards before ending up on his grass. The man, concerned about potential damage to his sprinkler system and frustrated by the dangerous driving, attempted to intercept the vehicle.

He yelled at the driver to return to the road and even struck the car window as the vehicle approached him. The homeowner explained his reaction while speaking to FOX 2 Detroit by stating, “Telling her no and she kept coming. She almost hit me.” As the situation escalated, both individuals began shouting profanities at one another. 

He asked her to get off his lawn

The homeowner reportedly shouted, “Get off my lawn,” to which Lacie replied, “You’re about to die.” The homeowner later attributed his intense reaction to his health condition, claiming that his Parkinson’s makes it difficult for him to stay calm or communicate effectively when he becomes agitated. He mentioned that his primary goal in the moment was to document the trespass in case he needed to file a property claim later.

Lacie offered a different perspective on the verbal exchange, claiming her comment was misunderstood. She insisted that she never intended to threaten his life. Instead, she claimed, “I said that because he said much more than the ‘C-word’ he said he said. We were yelling over each other and every time he stopped yelling, those words ‘you’re about to die’ came out. It was not nice at all.”

She added, “However, what I meant, you need to calm down, you’re about to die as in you’re old in your age.” She further mentioned that she would be open to a more civil meeting with the man, noting, “Honestly, he’s elderly, so I would give him that grace.”

The incident sparked a significant reaction on social media, where many users sided with the homeowner. Commenters expressed frustration over the driver’s decision to use private property as a road, with one user writing, “Not his fault, people are rude.” 

Another person commented, “THAT WOMAN SHOULD HAVE NEVER DRIVEN UP IN THE YARD LIKE THAT!! What the heck is the matter with her?! YOU DO NOT DO THAT! How would she like it if someone did that to her lawn?!”

Despite the intensity of the encounter and the ruts left in his yard, the homeowner has expressed a desire to move past the event. He addressed online commentary regarding the situation, specifically refuting claims that his anger was motivated by race. 

He clarified that the argument was simply a misunderstanding between two people. He stated, “I know a lot of the comments on Instagram were racial, and I did not appreciate that. Had nothing to do with race. It was just two people at the moment who had a misunderstanding. I have no ill will toward this person. I forgive her. No damage was done to my property other than the rut in the grass and that can be fixed.”
