Woman says man allegedly stole nearly $1,100 for a cruise and cut contact. She bought another ticket and tracked him down onboard

Vanessa Phillips confronted a man she claims scammed her out of nearly $1,100 for a cruise by tracking him down while they were both aboard the same ship. The situation unfolded on the MSC Seascape, a massive vessel currently known for its luxury amenities and family-friendly reputation. Phillips had originally planned to join Armonte Domious Wilson on a Western Caribbean cruise departing from Galveston, Texas.

As reported by the NY Post, pair reportedly met on a previous cruise back in December 2025. When Wilson began looking for someone to sail with for this specific trip, Phillips reached out to finalize plans. She alleges that Wilson provided her with a fake itinerary, fake agent booking numbers, and invoices that totaled nearly $1,100. As the sailing date approached, Wilson allegedly cut off all communication with her.

Phillips claims she later discovered that Wilson had actually booked the cruise for himself at a cost of $524, which is significantly lower than the amount she claims she paid him. She also found that she had been completely excluded from the reservation.

She confronted him on the cruise

Instead of letting the situation slide, Phillips decided to purchase her own ticket for the exact same cruise. She reportedly found Wilson sitting in a jacuzzi on the ship and confronted him while recording the encounter for Facebook.

In the video, Phillips can be heard saying, “You thought I wasn’t going to get on here? You took my $1,100. You thought I wasn’t going to make it? Where my money at?” When she pressed him on whether he had the money on him at that moment, Wilson said he did not.

She continued, “It’s OK for you to take my $1,100 and you on a cruise … Where’s my money?” Wilson denied taking her money during the interaction and insisted he had not removed her from the booking. He eventually called security as Phillips followed him away from the jacuzzi area.

Wilson has since taken to Instagram to share his side of the story. He denied attempting to scam Phillips and offered an explanation regarding the financial dispute. He claimed that he removed her from the booking only after learning she had disputed the Venmo payments she sent him. Wilson stated, “Please consider the facts and documentation provided rather than relying solely on portions of the live conversation.”

He also addressed the status of the funds, noting that the transactions are being handled through the Venmo dispute process. Wilson wrote, “Regarding the money that was sent, the transactions have been disputed through Venmo. I understand that Venmo may ultimately rule in her favor because I was unable to respond within the required timeframe.” He concluded by saying he is waiting to see how the process is resolved.
