A woman’s big plans for a New Year’s party got shut down fast after the Airbnb owner found her video promoting the event online. What happened next has people talking about party rules and short-term rentals.
According to Bro Bible, a TikTok user named Sunshine made a video telling everyone about a huge New Year’s party she was planning at an Airbnb in Arizona. She said she spent $10,000 to rent the place and thought about 2,000 people would show up. But the guy who owns the property, Rob Abasolo, saw her video and put a stop to it right away.
Abasolo makes videos on TikTok under the name @robuilto. He made his own video after seeing Sunshine’s party announcement. When she told everyone in Arizona about the party, Abasolo jumped in with some bad news. “Hi. Yeah, that’s actually my house,” he said. “I’m your Airbnb host, and I’ve got some bad news—um, that it’s not gonna happen.” He canceled her booking on the spot.
The owner says she lied about some things
Abasolo’s video got more than 3.8 million views. In it, he showed that Sunshine wasn’t telling the truth about a few things. He had proof she only paid a bit less than $6,000, not the $10,000 she claimed. He also showed she never asked him if she could have a party there.
Abasolo was pretty upset about guests who try to have parties at Airbnb places. The company banned parties back in 2022, so it’s not allowed anymore. When Sunshine said she expected 2,000 people, he said she was “what’s wrong with Airbnb.”
“You are the reason that people hate me and the hosting community—why my neighbors hate me, and why the hotel industry loves you, because you give Airbnb and us a bad name,” Abasolo said in his video. He thought the party would wreck his place and cost him tens of thousands of dollars to fix. It’s kind of like how an Amazon customer tried to score free Skippy peanut butter by breaking the rules for their own good.
Abasolo showed himself canceling her reservation at the end of his video. He used her own promotional video as the reason for the cancellation. He wrote on Instagram later that he got Sunshine kicked off Airbnb completely. He only found out about the party because someone saw her video and sent it to him.
Sunshine made her own video after Abasolo’s went viral. She said people sent her death threats and threatened to mess up the party.
“I was just a girl trying to have fun, and is that wrong?” she said. Even though Abasolo canceled everything, Sunshine said the party was still going to happen. “The party is canceled on his end. It’s not canceled on my end,” she said. “We’re still going to do this.” She also said she was sending Abasolo a cease and desist letter.
People on social media had mixed feelings about the whole thing. Some thought the situation was embarrassing, while others wanted to know what would happen next.
One person commented, “Can’t wait to see her follow up video about the cancellation lol.” Another said, “This is embarrassing.” The whole drama went viral and got people arguing, similar to other confusing viral videos that have sparked debate online.
