MLB Angels announcer Terry Smith was rear-ended by a car going 90-mph, and his only injury is hard to believe.

There's some good news and some bad news.

Veteran MLB announcer Terry Smith has been involved in an unfortunate accident in Arizona. Terry’s car was struck by a car rushing at around 90 miles per hour, but luckily, he did not get any fatal injuries and is now safe from a life-threatening injury. Judging by the intensity, even the authorities were surprised to see that Smith did not get any fatal blows. The announcer has been discharged from the hospital and has also publicly spoken on the matter.

According to The Spun, Los Angeles Announcer Smith announced that he has been lucky enough to survive after his horrific accident in Arizona. He was hit by a car when he was leaving the Angels’ training facility in Tempe, Arizona. Although it has not yet been announced whether the other driver was arrested, the police pursued the suspect’s car following the hit-and-run.

Smith’s exact words in the latest broadcast for the spring training match were, “I feel extremely fortunate to be on the air with you,” he further added, “This was a harrowing experience for me and my family, but I am ready to go and give it a test today. A lot of things have happened to me and my family over the last 72 hours and I’m extremely happy to be with you for today’s broadcast.”

It did not end Terry Smith’s life, so that is a win

Terry Smith has served 24 years in Los Angeles Angels, whose player Mike Trout had a 99-overall rating in MLB The Show 23. The 2026 season is his 24th season with the team, making him the longest-serving announcer of all time for the Angels. Smith has been recognized three times by the Ohio Associated Press for his sportscast. Moreover, he was awarded for Outstanding Sports Operation six times by the Associated Press in the state.

Coming back to his accident, the veteran broadcaster was struck by a car violating the speed limit this month. In the accident, which could have been fatal, Smith came out with a minor injury, which was luckily nothing more than an injured thumb. The authorities, who arrived just at time on the scene, took him out and were reportedly surprised that Smith survived.

Further details of the accident have not yet been disclosed by the authorities, with the suspect still being sought. It looks like only time will tell what penalties the suspect will face to make up for this horrendous car crash.
