XCOM First Trailer for 2K Games newest FPS

The debut trailer for XCOM, the latest new FPS from 2K Games, has just been released. There is already some controversy brewing over the title because frankly this isn’t the first XCOM game, but it is the first XCOM game that is an FPS.

It just goes to show you how popular FPS is these days. Next stop, Super Mario FPS, which will be when the unavoidable jumping of the shark occurs. Though you cannot take points away from 2K for style, as the game looks fantastic. You can see the influence of the Bioshock series here as so prominently displayed at the beginning of the trailer. If it’s half as good as the first Bioshock gamers shouldn’t have much to be upset about.

Update:   As it turns out, this version of XCOM was scrapped during development.  That was a good thing that sparked a new series from 2K with the same exact name.  Instead of making XCOM a first person shooter, they instead made a strategy game that was so well recieved that it got a sequel in the years to come.
