Progress report on Battlefield 3 PS3 issues

Some PlayStation 3 gamers have been waiting for DICE to address issues with Battlefield 3 on the console. A persistent problem of lag and voice chat issues have plagued the game on the platform for two months since its launch, but DICE believes that there will be a fix in the near future.

The developer didn't give any concrete dates about when to expect fixes for the game, but "we're making good progress," said Daniel Matros. Who believes that the issues "will be fixed eventually". This echoes a similar sentiment that Tomas Danko explained via Twitter. "I can say VOIP updates for PS3 next month, but more than that I'll keep to myself at the moment."

Danko also pointed to other inclusions in the coming updates which were horns for vehicles, comorose, and others. But for PlayStation 3 fans there isn't a more important update than the VOIP, which hopefully is fixed for good with the upcoming patch.

I support the idea behind SOPA, I just dont agree with the methods used. Rouge sites need to stopped at some point. PC gaming is in the ditch because of piracy.

  Look at call of duty they made over 1b for mw3 1 year after back ops sold lots why not cut the price of the game but they don’t they still charge full price thats why ppl download it ea now they don’t give u a manuel with the game and tell u buy it new or u pay $10 more for the online + gears of war 3 got dlc on the disk and they want u to pay to play next they will say pay for the next level they r making lots of money with crap if ppl don’t download it they will just take more and more

SOPA will be as helpful towards stopping piracy as EAs “DRM” policy, Ubisoft’s UPlay and “forced to be online at all times”, and/or Online Passes.

  Sony doesnt charge ANYTHING for playstation network. A ps3 costs 250$. Both Sony and Microsoft LOOSE money everytime they sell a console. Neither company makes any money off of console manufacturing. If I wanted to build a PC with the relative gaming power of a console it would cost 700$.

  Well when you look at the 6 year old tech in the 360 couple that with the fact that M$ buys the components in bulk, then look at PS3 which has come down $350 in only 5 years, sells cheaper than 360 now, has blu ray and all it’ other bells and whistles.

Airfreak, I read it on GIO waaay before it was appearantley uploaded to the BF site. I know the whole bell thing has nothing to do with SOPA, but have you heard EA’s reasoning? They claimed fair use. Isn’t what they’re trying to take away from us with SOPA fair use? Hypocritical much?

  nooooo thats not it at all. Bell is suing EA beause EA replicated their helis more realistically then they would like. EA claims freedom of speech. SOPA is about targeting websites that help or directly support piracy through means of copyright infringement. It’s a similar concept, but they’re different. EA wasn’t supporting the piracy of Bell’s helicopters when they featured them in battlefield 3.

I have waited, but been vocal, with my dissapointment in this game. The final version is actually worse than the BETA. The aiming is totally pooched, the VOiP has still not been fixed, and the game itself was rushed to compete with the big-brother of FPs franchises.

Well, you’ve done it. You got each of our $60. So what if it’ll take 4 months to MAYBE fix the game-breaking elements of this game.

Shame on you for this. Shame on you for letting your loyal fans down. In any other industry, this kind of release would have led to a major recall of any product this bad.

There is no need to point out all of the shortcomings in BF3. It has been widely discussed, and is becoming more prevelant in gaming blogs and news circles. You can no longer hide this catastrophe.

I look forward to the feedback from those who don’t think as I do. But I know I am not alone. The “getsatisfaction” forum, the one that DICe is “monitoring” is now 10K+ deep with people lining up to sue DICE and EA for this release and theft.

I hope you and your studio feel the ramifications of your business decisions. I’m sure it’s coming.

What Platform do you play BF3 on?

And The only issue on PS3 is the VOIP everything works, Ppl who just spam Frag rounds from a USAS and use MAVS to kill r just players tryin to get easy kills, that doesnt mean the game is broken.

If you think BF3 is in a bad state did you ever play Black Ops on PS3? I got my money back but Millions just sat their and took it like a B1tch. Some ppl even said it was the platfroms fault What BS. COD 4 was quality, MW2 was ok. But Black Ops should have been just a 360 exclusive. Y even port a game badly? The online issues were just terrible, And it wasnt PSN, every other game works fine online.

Black Ops is just a big mess, Activision were so lucky they didnt get messed over purely because of fan loyalty.

plus i can understand why a Weapons manufacturer would not like its Designs in a game, but the Heli’s in BF3 and COD only look like the actual thing they dont show how it works, how its made or anything useful to “The Enemy”

If it was such a big issue then no military equipment should feature in any form of media.

Anyway, The only big income they get from PC gamers is the subscriptions to MMO’s and the sh1tty in game curreny that is in free to play games. So nooby when u can just spend real money just to get items and weapons.
Like everyone said, piracy has nearly killed off PC gaming, Not many AAA exclusives but stuff from Indie game devs is sweet. MInecraft & Terraria for example.

I played this game when It first came out and was blindly amazed and would also defend it with my life. As I got to a Colonel rank in less than a month and time went on I slowly became disappointed, to be quite honest. It doesn’t have near the destruction that BC2 had and the VIOP, which was an issue in the beta (worst beta ever), complained about vigorously, and is just now starting to be looked at.

This was the last multiplatform game I will ever buy, period. PS3 always gets screwed on multi-plats because of bad ports.

I am currently playing the Starhawk Beta and the mics work really well in it. That is really sad when a beta outperforms a $60 game. Starhawk is going to shit all over this game and COD. It won’t sell as well because its a lot harder to play and the learning curve is much much steeper. I have a buddy who plays BF3 and does REALLY well. When he plays Starhawk and Warhawk, he comes in close to last every single time. BF3 and COD are for people who want the quick and easy to learn easy to rank up game. BF3 is harder than COD, but noooooo where near Starhawk and Warhawk.

All in all- Consoles (PS3 especially) got the watered down version of this game. Dice even said they spent two years developing it for PC and 10 months on consoles. That means they spent 6 months on xbox and 4 months on PS3. Multi-plats are for suckers. F_U_C_K EA/Dice.
