This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Nintendo has been keeping the fans waiting for the next Nintendo Direct for a couple months now since they last held one in early November. In that Direct, we got announcements such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and a release date for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. As expected, they revealed last night that they would be holding their next Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, January 14, with Nintendo fans expecting and hoping for a variety of announcements.

As a result, I thought I would put together a list of some of the announcements and reveals that we are both expecting and hoping to see in the Nintendo Direct. Most of these will be pretty realistic picks, but there will be a few dream picks thrown in as well at the end that are a good bit more unlikely.

New Nintendo 3DS US Release Date

This one is pretty much a no brainer, especially after the rumors of a February 13 release date coming from GameStop’s systems. After releasing last year in Japan and a few other territories, we have been desperately waiting to get our hands on both the New Nintendo 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS XL. With these rumored release dates being so soon and the Ambassador program rolling out with the European Club Nintendo, there is no doubt the release is soon.

Majora’s Mask 3D Release Date/N3DS Exclusive Content/Bundle

The last Nintendo Direct in November brought us the much awaited announcement of Majora’s Mask 3D, so there is bound to be plenty more information this time around. With rumors swirling that the game may be releasing in only the next month or two, it definitely has to be time for us to learn about some of the new content that the game will have, specifically some New Nintendo 3DS exclusive features. In addition, a release date for the game would be a safe bet, along with bundles if it happens to release alongside the New Nintendo 3DS.

Hyrule Warriors’ Majora’s Mask DLC Details

Set to release sometime this month, the third paid DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors happens to center around the very popular right now Majora’s Mask. Two playable characters are still waiting to be revealed, along with three costumes and an adventure map. With this being the last event before the release of the pack, there is almost no doubt we’ll see something during the Nintendo Direct.

Mewtwo Gameplay for Super Smash Bros.

We learned last year that Super Smash Bros.’ roster for both 3DS and Wii U was not quite complete, as those who bought both would gain access for free to the veteran Mewtwo at some point this year. While it may not come until the next Nintendo Direct, there is a pretty good chance we will see Mewtwo’s gameplay debut here in a brand new trailer, with maybe even a release date and pricing for those that did not buy and register both games.

More Details About Mario Kart 8’s Second DLC Pack

Nintendo shocked us all last year with the reveal of a pair of DLC packs that would be coming to the game, with the first already released in November. The next is schedule for May, so while we may not get a set release date yet, we are bound to find out at least some sort of new detail about the pack, even if it’s just a new vehicle or something.

New Character Reveal for Code Name S.T.E.A.M.

Coming from Intelligent Systems, which has brought us the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series, Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is certainly one of the more intriguing titles to be released in 2015. Taking classic fictional and fictionalized characters and putting them into a steampunk world is very unique and with such a great developer at the helm, we should be in for a treat. Past Directs have given us details on things like new characters for your party, so it would be a good assumption that we will get yet another to fight alongside the likes of Abe Lincoln.
