Assassins Creed: Revelations Hands on at E3

Assassin's Creed: Revelations had a huge presence at this year's E3 and was the first thing you saw when heading over to Ubisoft booth at the show. Pre-E3, Ubisoft showed off new CGI for the Assassin's Creed: Revelations, as well as an extensive story trailer that showed off new action packed gameplay from the campaign. Now that Ubisoft has successfully incorporated multiplayer into the franchise, the new multiplayer mode was also on display in lock-step with the single player offering.

As a fan of the franchise who's been there since the beginning, I'm excited for Assassin's Creed: Revelations. And this is certainly not because of anything groundbreaking that I'm expecting from the franchise.  Fortunately, I had no preconcieved notions that Assassin's Creed: Revelations would be taking a step away from the successful gameplay offerings that have been featured in the first three games.

It's blatantly obvious that Assassin's Creed: Revelations is going to feel very similar to Brotherhood, and that's a good thing.  The franchise has consistently stepped up both the gameplay and the story since the franchise originally launched back in 2007.  The promise of explanation is one of Assassin's Creed: Revelation's biggest assets, since the games consistently end on cliff-hangers, with Brotherhood having us peering over the deepest of valleys at it's conclusion.  The game which is said to tie together the stories of the original, has its work cut out for it.  The stories of Altair, and the order of Assassins, Ezio's role in Revelations, and of course Desmond, have all been promised to be funneled together in what can only be the lead-in to the official third act of the franchise in Assassin's Creed 3.

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Ubisoft introduced a brand new multiplayer component, that for a first offering was nothing short of amazing.  Playing the role of one of many Assassins, each with unique abilities, was something that the true blue fan of the franchise had been waiting on for years.  As good as the multiplayer portion of the game was in Brotherhood, Revelations is taking a much more ambitious approach in it's gameplay and story delivery.

The mysterious Abstergo organization is front and center in the multiplayer portion of Assassin's Creed. In Revelations, Ubisoft plans to unveil new information via cut-scenes and new story telling mechanics with their Sophomore attempt at multiplayer in the game.  The idea for the developer, is to deliver bits and pieces of information to the gamer which reward the multiplayer gamer for their accomplishments in the mode.  The mode is set to reveal side story of the Assassin's Creed Universe, that just won't be found in the single player campaign.

On a superficial level, Assassin's Creed: Revelations looked very similar to its predecessors.  Digging in deeper, Assassin's Creed: Revelations should be the best AC to date from what we saw at E3.  Ubisoft found the magic formula that includes fun gameplay that looks fantastic on the surface, but the real key to this game's success is going to be the overwhelming amount of explanation of story in Revelations, which we were promised isn't just early marketing for the game.

Multiplayer was good last time but needs more weapons. And it needs more improvment in the climbing faster options transfer campaign into multiplayer in ways and it will be alot better.

Somalia is right Desmond is fat Ezio kicked ass
Ubisoft could so make a modern version where Desmond is like a lone assassin with a machine gun and shit while at the same time still showing the animus and Ezio

I am so excited for this game. I am sure it is going to be really great. I hate that so may people said that they didn’t want this game to come out because it still had Ezio in it. I was totally disagreeing with them. Ezio is a great character and we have seen him from his birth to his older years. If they would have stopped at Brotherhood, we would all be wondering what happened after the fall of the Borgias. We feel connected to Ezio because we have played him for a LONG time. And then when the people saw the trailer they were all to excited for its release. And Desmond is a great player. If it wasn’t for him then we wouldn’t be playing HIS ancestors.

If Desmond got to left weights and run around he could be better but who cares. I wonder whats going to happen when Ezio is old if they continue the story? also if the person if they continue is going to be ezios or Claudia’s or where the persons going to be
I do hope they continue the trilogy for a long long time.
Because really da’vince died in 1519 and how much longer can Ezio live.
I think Ezio is already in early 40′s late 30′s because he was about 20 at the beginning and then about 30 at the end of 2 so really at least 38

And in brotherhood didn’t it end around 1503-1505 and how long in that time you were lucky to live till 70 and he can’t be an assassin for that long he might have to like stop or be like Mario and teach an assassin or apprentice one and take him on his missions and you could play the apprentice

@Shea: At the beginning of AC Brotherhood, Ezio was 40 Years old. That game took place starting in 1499-1500. For the time, that was rather old. I’m guessing that Revelations will be in about 1510-1520, putting Ezio at about 50-60 years old.

Also, Though I’m a huge fan of the series, I don’t want it to continue that much longer. Too many great series have been ruined by the company dragging it out to long. Revelations looks great, and after that I’m sure Assassin’s Creed 3 will be awesome, but as soon as the story is done, I want the games to be over. I want to be able to remember the AC games fondly.

After Revelations, the new game should be set in asia because its said one of altair’s sons went to china (or Monglia) to assinate Genghis Khan who was famous as Monglia Ruler who took over quarter of the world.

@Harry, both Zorro and Robin hood are FICTIONAL charcaters and have no impact on history, hitle did, but he didn’t egt assassinated, eh committed suicide. although i can see how an assassin could make it look like he did, but woudl an assassin also kill hitlers dog? (hitler poisoned both his wife and dog) There alot of rumours that he was involve din adavcned science etc, so he could have obtained a piece of eden…maybe the swastika? the original symbol that he actually gets the swastika off is the piece of eden, he used it to control the nazi party, but i feel the gtame would be spoiled with guns…

@wolfking although in ACB in one of the glitches, it was realy strongly hinted that hitler was assassinated, prasing the assassins on how they made it look like suicide (also somthing about a hitler double which i foget) to take his peace of eden he used at his rallys. in respect to Zorro and robin hood i was mainly refering to the amount of oraly passed down storys about misterius highly skilled fighters who attacked the rich and powerful to protect the poor and weak, somthing the assassins strive for.
Rifles could be used by guards with the same bow/muscet machanic in previus games, pistls could be used by the assassin in the same way as in AC2 and ACB. Submachine guns could replace throughing knives, with simerlar effect. Gaurds would also carry swords for combat, bayonets as spears and so on.
All of these missions could be extras to a campain set in another time, like altier part in AC2.
