Starbucks brought out its new Teddy Bear cup on November 6 for the holiday season. The glass cup for cold drinks costs $29.95 and became super popular with fans. People got so excited about getting one that they started waiting outside stores many hours before they opened.
According to Daily Dot, a lot of shoppers felt really let down after waking up super early to buy one of these cups. Many people posted videos on TikTok about what happened when they finally made it inside. What they found was totally unexpected and left tons of fans going home without a cup even though they tried so hard.
One person on TikTok went to a Kroger store that has a Starbucks inside at 2 am, but the store would not open until 6 am. When everyone was finally allowed in and ran to the Starbucks area, they saw Kroger and Starbucks workers buying up the cups before customers could get them. This person waited all those hours but ended up leaving with nothing.
This is why people are upset with Starbucks employees
Someone else got up early because he wanted to surprise his fiancée with one of the cups. But when he got to his Starbucks, there were just two cups left. A worker bought one and another worker had already saved the other one for their friend. He had to go back home without a cup and said that Starbucks people are crazy.
Things got pretty wild at some places where people actually started fighting each other to get a cup. One video going around on TikTok shows a bunch of guys getting into a physical fight while trying to grab one. It shows just how badly some people wanted these cups.
A lot of people left comments under the videos saying how upset they were. One person wrote, “I drove 2 hours. Only 1 cup was in stock and a family waiting in their car hopped out before doors open so even the other holiday cups were snatched up.”
Someone else said, “I went to 10 Starbucks and all of them had 1-2 only and most Starbucks were sold out. I went to the first Starbucks at 4:30a. And most the places employees bought them.”
Another angry customer wrote, “I went to my usual Starbucks that’s a 2 minute drive from my house. I ordered a drink on my phone for pick up. And then get to the window and ask about the bear glasses and they said they don’t sell merch there. I was thinking yeah the employees must’ve bought them all.” This is not the first time Starbucks has frustrated customers with system issues.
