Dwight Howard’s divorce from his wife, Amber Howard (AKA Amy Luciani), has taken a dramatic turn. Police were reportedly called to his home multiple times recently, including one incident tied to an alleged suicide threat. At the same time, Luciani is leveling shocking drug addiction claims against the former NBA star.
Law enforcement officers were called to Howard’s home in Suwanee, Georgia, three times in the two weeks leading up to his latest divorce filing. A representative from the Gwinnett County Police Department confirmed that officers responded to reports of a domestic incident, a theft, and suicide threat during that period. Details explaining what exactly led to each of these calls haven’t been released by the authorities, but it definitely paints a picture of turmoil at the residence.
According to Complex, Howard officially filed for divorce from Luciani on Monday. In the court documents, he stated that their marriage is “irretrievably broken.” He’s also asking the court to grant him exclusive use of their Georgia mansion.
The drama didn’t stop with just the divorce filing
The couple actually tied the knot in January 2025. It’s interesting because Luciani had previously filed for divorce herself in July 2025, but she voluntarily dismissed that case just a month later. It makes you wonder what was going on behind the scenes there.
The latest filing includes a mutual restraining order, which is a pretty serious step. This order prevents either side from harming one another or their children. It also stops them from selling property outside the normal course of business or canceling insurance policies.
This divorce filing came right after Luciani posted a series of emotional messages on X over the weekend. She directly blamed Howard for Child Protective Services taking her daughter, and she went on to accuse him of being addicted to drugs. The posts quickly escalated the situation into a very public dispute. Celebrity divorces often take that turn, including the heated confrontation between Cardi B and Offset during their divorce battle.
Howard’s former partner, Royce Reed, also chimed in on social media. Her posts seemed to be aimed directly at Luciani, and she referenced similar complaints that she said she had raised in the past about Howard.
Reed didn’t hold back, writing, “Are you serious right now? You called me crazy, right? You said I was jealous. You said I wanted him when it’s always been about the damn kids and now you want to sit here and cry and sit here and be like ‘it’s because what everybody else did to him.’ No! It’s because of what he does to other people, s***. I was just f**** first. I was collateral damage.”
