Crytek, the developers of the Crysis series is opening a studio in Austin, TX. The new studio will be led by Vigil Games’ David Adams, who was the former GM and co-owner of the now defunct Darksiders developer.

Adams and a team of 35 experienced developers will be working with the CryEngine, but what they’ll be working on is yet to be announced.

In the press release, Adams said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the newest Crytek studio, which will boast some of the brightest development talent in the industry. The studio’s launch represents Crytek’s commitment to delivering diverse and high quality content to players everywhere.”

This is the second big move in the last few days out of Crytek. The company recently won a bid for Homefront 2, when THQ sold the franchise to the highest bidder. Crytek had previously been working on the shooter, and now own the franchise outright.

Does the arrival of Adams suggest that Vigil Games will be bringing their unannounced title codenamed “Crawler” to Crytek as a casualty of the THQ fallout? We’ll have to wait and see.
