Juan Orona, 29, turned himself in to authorities shortly after suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He told officers he had shot his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, and her two children, Maiya, 16, and Noah, who was a kindergartner.
As reported by the NY Post, the event unfolded in a residential area in west Las Vegas, reportedly at an apartment complex located in the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive, near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. Police forced their way into the home following the admission and discovered the three victims deceased at the scene.
The sequence of events leading up to this tragedy began when Orona reportedly confronted Flores-Osuna at the apartment after he spotted her car near the vehicle of her ex-boyfriend, who was identified only as “Henry.” During the confrontation, Flores-Osuna allegedly admitted she had been unfaithful to him. Orona told police that she specifically told him that her ex-boyfriend was “better in bed.”

Following this admission, Orona claimed he “blacked out.” He told investigators that he later found himself holding his 9mm Glock handgun in the bathroom, with Flores-Osuna and her two children dead on the floor.
While he admitted to the shootings, he told police that he could not remember who he shot first or exactly why the situation escalated to this point. He did mention that he recalled Flores-Osuna and her children either yelling at him or coming toward him during his supposed blackout, but he could not provide any further specific details regarding those moments.
Orona had reportedly been dating Flores-Osuna for roughly three to six months prior to the incident. During that time, he had been staying with the family and had even helped pay the rent for the apartment where the killings occurred. When he spoke to dispatchers, he confirmed the shooting happened inside that residence and noted that the firearm used was inside a backpack in his vehicle.
His father later told police that his son called saying he had hurt his girlfriend and her children. His father and brother then accompanied him as he surrendered to law enforcement. Orona reportedly told detectives he knew he needed to surrender and be held accountable for his actions.
Following his surrender, Orona was reportedly transported to Sunrise Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound. The official report does not specify whether that injury was self-inflicted. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center while the legal process moves forward.
During a court hearing, his court-appointed public defender requested to delay the bail decision to allow more time to review the details of the case, as Fox reports. He is now scheduled to return to court soon.
